So who exactly is running the show? And what does it matter if the fat controller is running the show?
Blocked energy systems, ill health and chronic states of disablement leading to lives that are far too hum-drum are the reason why we need to understand our very own self inflated Fat Controller (By the way, the Fat Controller as I refer to him was inspired from Thomas the Tank Engine Books)
Each time we have a thought or whenever we take action, someone somewhere is prompting us. The question is where is the captain of our ship and what is the motivating factor or driving force behind the captain’s decisions.
Primarily and fundamentally we are looking for the captain to be operating from our soul. And when we are operating from our soul, it is obvious. Somehow things just have a wonderful knack of either dropping into place or falling in our laps. Life is easy and oh so sweet. We are in the flow and we recognise it. Our hearts feel so expansive, warm and generous of nature. Trust is a word that is easily understood.
But if ego is running the show, well the road may get very bumpy. However, we mustn’t give ego a bad name because after all we need it. Ego is our protector and its motive comes from keeping us alive, safe and making sure we survive.
So why the bad wrap?
Well when ego has got out of shape, it tends to manipulate things, situations, energies, people for its’ own good. It’s quite understandable really. If you find yourself in a situation that feels incredibly threatening and have had a very upsetting & painful experience, then you will do everything within your power to prevent it from happening again! You’ll employ a whole host and manner of tools and identities to prevent such an unpleasant experience occurring. That’s where all those archetypes come in. You will use anything from avoidance to stating a preference (judgement) to ensure you don’t have to go through that darn thing again. That may be ok if you’re honest about it but sometimes the ego finds a way to get what it wants rather too successfully. In which case, we start to see a controlling personality emerging. Perhaps this controlling personality turns into a bit of a bully. And maybe that bully turns into a bit of an abuser if the stakes get high.
Maybe the judge makes an appearance and interjects with right & wrong thus dumping a barrel load of guilt & punishment. Now there’s another way to ensure the ego gets what it wants. The guilty party will feel so lousy that their sense of self worth will be flattened. Now how neat is that? Clever hey?
Then we have the master manipulator of words (the flatterer) who skillfully weaves his silky tongue to ensure that he gets what he wants. There are many disguises that the ego uses but the problems arise when those disguises take over and a personality and identity is formed on the basis of defence and protection. But that’s not your true nature. Your true nature is loving and purity of heart whereas the other stuff is what I refer to as “tarnish and varnish.” This isn’t about being a goody two shoes, it’s about accepting the black & the white, recognising our defences and bringing the whole lot into balance and having some fun as we ride the waves of life.
The interesting thing is we all know when something is genuine and heartfelt. And we also know when our radar is clocking something that feels completely out of sync, incongruent and something of a slippery eel.
Take a look at the model diagram and see where your “Fat Controller” is lurking. Mine hides behind fear and judging how I express myself…. this shows up with me filtering what I say sometimes (but I’m getting better at this since I recognised what I was doing). It’s linked into being a bit of a people pleaser and is motivated by the need for affection. Where’s your “Fat Controller” coming from?
